The Republic of Singapore and Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Digital Economy via a virtual ceremony this morning. The MOU was signed by Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Communications and Information, Singapore, and Mr Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Thailand.

The MOU will see Singapore and Thailand step up cooperation in several areas such as enhancing digital connectivity, promoting cross-border data flows, developing tech talent and manpower, as well as exploring collaborations in emerging technologies such as AI and 5G, and cybersecurity cooperation.

Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Communications and Information said, “The MOU marks a new milestone in the close and long-standing relationship between Singapore and Thailand. Thailand is an important and like-minded digital partner for Singapore.  We share similar interests in digital transformation. We also have a common vision to use technology for good to build a resilient and inclusive digital economy and society. This will help our businesses be more sustainable, and to seize digital opportunities. It will also help improve the lives and livelihoods of our people.”
